| Bio: | By day I teach numeracy, part-time, at a FE college. Although it is mostly for 16-19 year olds I mainly teach adults. Unless something terrible has been done to my timetable I still only have one group who are 16-19 year olds. They are taking a level 2 childcare and education course and are not too impressed at having to improve their numeracy skills. Still it is now college policy that all students are supposed to literate and numerate or be helped to become so. Nice theory! By night I like to listen to music, lots so some will rub off on me and sing. Until recently I was having singing lessons every week but my teacher is on a sabbatical of sorts - fourth baby is lactose intolerant and she is having to be on a special diet until baby Natasha has been weaned! It does have the benefit that I save money on the lessons! I like to learn my favourite songs of my singing/filking idols and mentors. I have sung a few of such in public to folk and filk audiences - a very lovely way to share music. Out of the blue a year ago I actually wrote a song (something I thought would never ever happen) while being driven along the M4. Since then the motorways of England have been most inspirational - a bit like a musical meditation - although getting UNlost in the area of Avebury and Silbury Hill also seeems good. Folk songs provide tunes for songs and even a song in Asda while shopping has started off musical musings! What will my journal be about? mmm good questions! I suppose it will be about my musical journeyings since my blog on Myspace is more general, being about life, love, laughter and anything else beginning with 'l' I can think of! Another love of mine that is currently simmering on the back burner is medieval stuff. I am a member of the Far Isles society and hope to be able to afford to go to more gatherings after I have finished my (distance learning) PGCE. This for the unitiated stands for POST GRADUATE CERTIFICATE of EDUCATION and will enable me to gain a licence to teach! Yep, at long last teachers need a licence! And finally, for the time being, I love storytelling. It used to be strictly private, gravitated to single sentence stories to amuse myself, colleagues, friends etc and now I have started bare-bonesing some involving a charming character who popped out of my head a few years ago and has refused to depart since. Seems to think she can be my muse, in music, magic, mayhem and storytelling! | |
